Great to hear from you Tulip.
Maybe I have internalised some of her ideas, at least in my desire to clean up a bit. I have this urge to throw stuff out. All I need to do now is act upon that urge!
I have been watching (well, binged upon actually) a show called State of the Union. Chris O'Dowd and Rosamund Pike are the main characters, hardly anyone else is in it.
I think I have a bit of a crush on Chris O'Dowd. I have no idea what he is like in real life but I always enjoy the characters he has played in shows and movies.
The show itself is about a couple who meet in a bar for ten minutes each week just before they go to marital counselling. You never see them in counselling but there in the bar, they have some marvellous conversations. One is left with the feeling that this is where they do the real work rather than in the therapy which follows it.
I forgot to say that the show is very witty, I laughed out loud quite a bit but there is a pithiness to is also.Last edited by Falena Porter; 16-07-2019, 22:12.

Kondo seems a very sweet lady & the episode i watched was inspiring to declutter, but i do agree that one needs plenty of items that dont spark joy but are needed.... my funeral suit for example. But i did start an approach of 'is it really necessary? if no then does it make me happy? if no then out it goes.
The thing i thought was odd was... did you see how she folds up clothes into tiny shapes? thats fine if you want to look like you slept in it?

Hehe. The world will be happy that I dont go naked because my clothing doesn't "spark joy." lol

well, very little of what i have "sparks joy". maybe someone just has toooo many clothes or items? better for me to say, "can i do without this?" or "do i use this?" i don't think being naked because your clothing doesn't spark joy would be a great thing.

I saw her on a talk show one day Falena. My house would be empty if I went around wondering what items "spark joy" in me. lol...It may not "spark joy" but some stuff, you just need, lol..

People have talked so much about Maria Kondo, I finally looked up her series on Stan (or was it netflix?) I know now I need to put all my clothes in a big pile and sort through them. And to ask myself ”Does this spark joy in me?”
I guess I am astonished that it is possible to make an entire series on how to do this.
At any rate I enjoy watching other people throw out their junk.

i mostly watch HGTV, it's pretty mild, without a lot of stuff of political or some kind of "statement" involved. my fav was fixer upper...sad that it's over. but i like the new My Town, based here in MS...and flip or flop nashville, etc. only a few things i don't care for on there. i like a lot of the shows like downton abbey and another i can't remember the name of...i love stories set in historical period like those.

Hi Nutmeg (love your name!)
I watch SVU also...even though it usually triggers me. I love Olivia Benson b/c she kicks butt and she’s a strong, smart woman in power. She’s my hero! Lol
I Love Lucy  best episode ever is the one where Lucy and Ethel are working in the chocolate factory and the chocolates are moving on the conveyor belt too fast. Of course the only solution is too shove them in the mouth!!
Falena, I’ve never heard of The Job Lot. Must be an Australian show??

I've been watching reruns of The Job Lot. It is good to have a bit of a laugh at the end of the day.

My favorite show is Blue Bloods. I love how they portray the family and every show will have a scene at Sunday dinner. Some shows they actually pray before the meal. Hard to imagine that being aired now a days. Other favorites are the Chicago Med, Fire and Police. The Resident, New Amsterdam. I cant believe this but I really like to watch SVU, I do not understand why I like to watch it but I do. There are times when it triggers me but that is the exception rather than the rule. My all time favorite show is the original:heartsmile2: I Love Lucy episodes. Oh my goodness such hoot! Even after all these years and I know what is going to be said or happen it still is a great show.

Hi Rowann! I'm glad you popped on!
I hardly know any of the shows people write about. Don't have cable but kinda addicted to watching youtube videos on TV.

I used to watch Hawai Five O just because it aired around my lunch time and I ended up so emotionally attached to each characters. I want someone like Steve in my work place. A strong and clever leader who will fix anything. I'm not up to watching other plice/military dramas with lots of crimes, but I love Alien series. :hide2: I think I enjoy them because it's easy to see them as fictions
Anyhow I guess I'll do my reintroduction some time later. Bye bye xo
