There’s a freedom that I long for,
One I’ve never had.
To wake one morning, look in the mirror
And not feel quite so bad.
To be able to see the eyes looking back
And not wish to turn away.
To be who I am, no masks or disguises
And not be consumed with shame.
To trust someone, no holds barred
Open the door to secrets, let them in
To love and be loved by that special someone
And not dread the inevitable end.
To feel my emotions, not fear them;
To let my true self flow through
Rather than hiding behind cold dark walls
And living the facade that I do.
Yes there’s a freedom that I long for,
One that I’m sure just can’t be real
But a fairytale crafted by dreamers
That captures me with it’s appeal
