Sometimes you may find you have problems with smilies or images, or pages not loading up properly. These problems can often be resolved by deleting your cookies and temporary internet files, in your browser. (Your browser is the programme you use to access the internet, for example, Internet Explorer.)
FOR WINDOWS SYSTEMS:
Internet Explorer 4
- Click on the View menu, then Internet Options.
- Under the option "Temporary Internet Files" are two buttons, "Delete Files..." and "Settings..."
- Click "Delete Files". Click OK to clear the browser's cache. This may take a few moments.
- Click on the Settings button. The Settings window will popup. There are three buttons in the bottom half of this window: "Move Folder...", "View Files...", and "View Objects...". Click on View Files.
- The "Temporary Internet Files" window will open.
- Go to Edit and choose "Select All" to highlight all cookies. Hit the Delete button on the keyboard. A popup box will ask if you're sure you want to delete the Cookies. Click "Yes".
- Close the Temporary Internet Files window.
- Click OK to close the Settings popup.
- Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
- Close and restart the browser and please try again!
- Click on the Tools menu, then Internet Options.

- Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
- Close and restart the browser and please try again!
- Netscape Cookies have to be removed externally from the browser. Close the Netscape browser.
- Click on the "Start" button and go to Find/Search and click to search for "Files and Folders".
- A search window will popup. You want to search for a file called "cookies.txt". You will want to insure that you search through the full contents of your computer and not a specific folder.
- Search will turn back results. There may be more than one "cookies.txt" file. Delete the ones in any Netscape directory. (example: C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\Default\cookies.txt )
- Close the Search window.
- Restart the Netscape browser and please try again!
- Click on the Edit menu, then click Preferences.
- In the Cateogry list, double-click Advanced to drop down the options under Advanced. Click on "Cookies".
- In the Cookies section of the window, click on the "View Stored Cookies" button. The "Cookie Manager" window will popup.
- Click on the "Remove All Cookies" button. Make sure the checkbox at the bottom which reads "Don't allow removed cookies to be reaccepted later" is unchecked.
- Click OK to close the Cookie Manager window.
- Click OK to close the Preferences Window.
- Close and restart the browser, then please try again!
- From the AOL Login screen, click on the My AOL menu and then click Preferences.
- Click on the "WWW" button. The Internet Options window will popup.
- Under the option "Temporary Internet Files" are two buttons, "Delete Files..." and "Settings..."
- Click on Delete Files. Click OK to clear the browser's cache. This may take a few moments.
- Click on the Settings button. The Settings window will popup. There are three buttons in the bottom half of this window: "Move Folder...", "View Files...", and "View Objects...". Click on View Files.
- The "Temporary Internet Files" window will pop open. Go to Edit and choose "Select All" to highlight all the cookies.
- Hit the Delete button on the keyboard. Click "Yes" to confirm you want to delete the Cookies.
- Close the Temporary Internet Files window.
- Click OK to close the Settings popup.
- Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
- Close the Preferences window to return to the AOL login screen.
- From the AOL Login screen, click the Settings menu, then click Preferences.
- Under Organization, on the right side of Preferences, click on "Internet Properties (WWW)".
- The "AOL Internet Properties" window will open. Under the option "Temporary Internet Files" are two buttons, "Delete Files..." and "Settings..."
- Click on Delete Files. Click OK to clear the browser's cache. This may take a few moments.
- Click on the Settings button. The Settings window will popup. There are three buttons in the bottom half of this window: "Move Folder...", "View Files...", and "View Objects...". Click on View Files.
- The "Temporary Internet Files" window will pop open. Go to Edit and choose "Select All" to highlight all the cookies.
- Hit the Delete button on the keyboard. Click "Yes" to confirm you want to delete the Cookies.
- Close the Temporary Internet Files window.
- Click OK to close the Settings popup.
- Click OK to close AOL Internet Properties.
- Close Preferences to return to the AOL Login screen.
- The steps to delete cookies depend on the version of Internet Explorer you are using. If you are not sure which version you have, start Internet Explorer, click the Help menu, then click About Internet Explorer.
- Follow the steps above for Internet Explorer 5 or Internet Explorer 6 depending on which version you currently have installed.
- Note: If you are using Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6.0 or above should be installed by default.
- Click on the Tools menu, then click options.
- Click on the Privacy tab at the top of the window that appears.
- Then click on the Cookies tab and choose "clear all cookies now".
- Then click the Cache tab, and choose "clear cache now".
- Click OK and close the window.
- Close and restart the browser, and try again.
FOR MACINTOSH SYSTEMS:
Internet Explorer 4 & 5
- Click on the Edit menu, then click Preferences.
- The "Internet Explorer Preferences" window will open. On the left is a list of options. Under the heading "Receiving Files" is the option "Cookies". Click on Cookies.
- The "Cookie Settings" will be displayed on the right side of the Internet Explorer Preferences window. The Cookie Settings will show in the right side, listing the cookies in alphabetical order.
- Scroll down to the 'h's and delete any cookies that are from "half" or "half.com" (there may be more than one). Scroll to the 's's and look for any "secure.half" cookies. Then go down to the w's and delete any "www.half" or "www.half.com" cookies.
- Click OK to close Internet Explorer Preferences.
- Close and restart the browser and please try again!
- Cookies can not be removed from within the Netscape browser. They have to be removed manually externally in the Macintosh system. Close the Netscape browser.
- Open the Macintosh HD (hard drive).
- Open the System Folder.
- Open the Preferences Folder.
- Open the Netscape Users Folder.
- There will be a folder named after your user name. (e.g. John Smith folder, etc) Open this folder.
- In this folder there is a file called "MagicCookie". Put it in the Trash. The folders can then be closed.
- Restart the browser and please try again!
- Click on the Edit menu, then click Preferences.
- In the Category list on the left isde, double-click on "Privacy and Security" to expand the options underneath.
- Click on "Cookies" under Privacy and Security. The Cookies options will be displayed on the right side of the Preferences window.
- Click on the "View Stored Cookies" button.
- In the window that appears, click on the "Remove All Cookies" button.
- There is a checkbox that reads "Don't allow removed cookies to be reaccepted later." Make sure this us UNCHECKED.
- Click OK to close the cookie manager.
- Click OK to close Preferences.
- Close and restart the browser, then please try again!
- From the AOL Login screen, click on the My AOL menu, then click Preferences.
- On the Preferences screen, click the "WWW" button on the left, then click on the "Advanced Settings" button on the right.
- The "Internet Settings" window will open. On the left is a list of options. Under the heading "Receiving Files" is the option "Cookies". Click on Cookies.
- The "Cookie Settings" will be displayed on the right side of the Internet Settings window, listing the cookies in alphabetical order.
- Scroll down to the 'h's and delete any cookies that are from "half" or "half.com" (there may be more than one). Scroll to the 's's and delete any "secure.half" cookies. Then go down to the w's and delete any "www.half" or "www.half.com" cookies.
- Click OK to close Internet Settings and save the changes.
- Close Preferences.
- Click on the Tools menu, then click options.
- Click on the Privacy tab at the top of the window that appears.
- Then click on the Cookies tab and choose "clear all cookies now".
- Then click the Cache tab, and choose "clear cache now".
- Click OK and close the window.
- Close and restart the browser, and try again.
