Disclaimer

Although many of our staff are trained in such fields as Counselling and Psychology, they are not working at Christian Survivors in the capacity of counsellors or therapists. We are here, as a group, to mutually support each other in friendship! The staff are all survivors of abuse themselves, who have committed to working towards creating and maintaining a safe, supportive environment on our forums.

It is also important for members to be aware that our staff have a policy of accountability to one another, as protection for themselves, and the members they work with. If you discuss your situation, in private, with a member of staff, they may speak with other more senior staff about it, as a point of help or advice for them. These discussions are kept strictly confidential and you will be kept anonymous where possible!

If you are feeling suicidal or are at immediate risk of injuring yourself, please seek help in real life! (There are a list of helplines on our website, which you may find helpful.)

The rules and guidelines set up on Christian Survivors are for the safety of yourself, and the other members of the forum! Please respect them. You can read these rules in the Everything You Need to Know forum.

Our Philosophy of Care & Disclaimer
Our Objectives Are To :

Provide an environment of love and acceptance where survivors can feel safe and where they will not be rejected, or feel ashamed; & where each member is aware of value being placed on their lives.

Offer hope to lives where all hope appears lost

Encourage survivors to face, and actively work through their issues, using as many appropriate mediums as possible.

Encourage & enable survivors to allow God to work with them in their healing, in safe ways, so that he can heal their brokenness.

Encourage survivors to believe truths about themselves, so that they can be set free from the lies which abuse has sown in them.

Provide a space on the internet which is wholly Christian, and comes against the popular ‘trend’ of flaming shown on so many ‘Christian’ forums online; and which embraces people of all faiths, assigning them equal importance & respect.

In order to attain these goals, we will :

    • Provide an environment for staff members in which we can encourage one another, and provide accountability and support for each other, so as to grow in our own faith and in healing – So as to enable us to easier bring support to members.

    • Sensitively provide friendship and genuine care to all members, new and old alike – tailoring our words and support to meet individual needs; and encouraging (& partaking of) discussion of both survivor issues, and other aspects of life.

    • Encourage members to create a supportive network consisting of real life resources, such as therapists, counsellors, friends, accountable relationships, and appropriate helplines and support groups.

    • Pray regularly for the members in our personal times with God. Listen to what God wants to speak into their lives, ad sensitively ensure that those things are shared at the appropriate time.

    • Provide a non forceful focus on scripture and prayer; and on the hope that we can find in God, using discussion; bible studies; meditations; and prayer.

    • Provide (and link to) useful resources and articles for members, pertaining to all types of abuse.

    • Treat anything shared on the forums as confidential, thus showing respect to each individual on CS.
